When Martell is transcribed in modern Chinese, the first character – Ma (3) – is the word for horse. To bring its unique connection with the horse to life, Maison Martell turned to Chinese contemporary artist He Datian, who created a magnificent calligraphy in which a horse emerges from the Chinese characters of Martell. ‘This symbolic representation and its dynamic brushstrokes evoke the energy of the horse, which echoes the free, audacious spirit of Maison Martell.

For Martell VSOP, overlapping images of a galloping horse suggest the lavers of fruity notes that give this cognac its characteristic richness, while its aromatic intensity is evoked by the animal’s spirited movement.
